Valluvandan Delights
Valluvanadu derives its name from the ancient and erstwhile rulers of a part of Kerala stretching from the Nila River (Bharathapuzha River) in the south to the Panthaloor Mala in the North. On the west, it was bounded by the Sea at Ponnani and on the east by Attapadi Hills. Valluvanadu is famous for its sweet sounding dialect and has been profusely used in many Malayalam Movies. A journey through Valluvanadu is really an unbelievable pleasant experience.
The River Nila, the longest river in Kerala, originating from the Western Ghats and flowing into the Sea at Ponnani, due to the indiscriminate sand-mining and other construction activities, remain dry especially in places like Shoranur, Lakkidi etc during the Summer. But the rampant monsoon changes it all. The river becomes a real sight to watch with its swirling waters sweeping everything and flowing majestically on its course. The river in its full flow has been compared to many things mundane by great poets like Mahakavi P Kunhiraman Nair and the famous lyricist P Bhaskaran.
